MacProp is a Shortwave Propagation program for the Macintosh. It will compute the MUF (Maximum Usable Frequency) for all locations around the world from your location.

Color Monitor capable of at least 640 by 480 resolution
Brief Instructions:
Make sure you set up your Preferences (found in the Edit menu). Set your geographic location (EAST longitude and NORTH latitude). Remeber, for those of us in North America, this means entering the longitude as a negative number. Also enter your offset from UTC (-5 for EST, -4 for EDT, etc). Finally, enter the current Sunspot Number (SSN). This information is stored in a file in your Preferences folder.
Selecting Update (from the Update menu) will re-compute the MUFs and update the display. Please note that calculating the MUF is a very computationally-intensive task. It requires about 1 minute on my Quadra 700, for example.
The top line (above the world map) displays the time of the last MUF calculation (not the present time) in UTC, the Sunspot Number (SSN) you entered in the Preferences, and the coordinates of the cursor above the map along with the MUF at that location. Move the cursor around the map, and you can find the MUF to that area of the world. Each location of the map is shaded. The darker the shading, the higher the MUF.
The MUF is the MAXIMUM usable frequency. Another useful frequency is the FOT (Frequency of Optimum Traffic), which is usually about 85% of the MUF.
